Thank you for your comments on our draft proposals, which we are reviewing ahead of the submission of a planning application to Wiltshire Council.
Welcome to the Persimmon Homes public consultation website for the land to the south of Elizabeth Way.
The purpose of this website is to provide details of our proposals on the land to enable local residents and community representatives to make comments ahead of the submission of a detailed planning application later this summer.
If you are interested in our proposals, please explore the website and provide us with your feedback, comments and suggestions.
The site is located adjacent to the Principal Settlement of Trowbridge, the county town of Wiltshire. The site comprises approximately three hectares of agricultural land.
Elizabeth Way (the Hilperton Relief Road) runs along the north east boundary of the land, beyond which is agricultural land and the village of Hilperton. The north west boundary is delineated by Middle Lane (a bridleway). The existing settlement of Trowbridge is located to the south west of the land, including existing houses which back on to the site. A field with clumps of mature trees separates the site from the Fieldways Hotel (a Grade II* Listed Building) to the south of the site. The A361 runs along the south east boundary, where a bus stop is located.
There is a public footpath running south west - north east through the centre of the site. There are existing trees and hedgerows, of varying quality, both within and along the boundaries of the land.
The principle of developing the site for housing has been established in the local development plan.
The site controlled by Persimmon Homes forms part of a larger area of land that has been allocated by Wiltshire Council in its Housing Site Allocations Plan (adopted February 2020) for the development of approximately 355 new homes. The Site Allocations Plan sets out the requirements for the development of this land.
The Hilperton Neighbourhood Development Plan (made November 2018) also sets out expectations for the development of the site.
A proposed scheme has been carefully designed based on the context of the site and its surroundings, local policy requirements and best practice in urban design and planning.
The principles of the scheme are summarised below.
Example two bedroom semi-detached house type (Alnmouth)
Example three bedroom detached house type (Charnwood)
We are seeking to establish the views of the local community on our proposals in order to inform a planning application which will be submitted to Wiltshire Council.
We are inviting comments on the draft proposals until Sunday 28th June 2020.

Alternatively your comments can be emailed to wessconsultation@persimmonhomes.com or posted to Land Department, Persimmon Homes (Wessex) Ltd, Verona House, Tetbury Hill, Malmesbury, Wiltshire, SN16 9JR.

We are aiming to submit a planning application to Wiltshire Council later this summer.
There will be another opportunity to comment on the proposals during the Local Planning Authority's consultation stage of the planning application process.
