Hi, I'm Elissa. I am an Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Finance Center, University of Münster, and a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic History, Queen's University Belfast. I received my PhD in Economic & Financial History from the University of Hohenheim in 2025.
My research focuses on household financial decision-making, particularly how information, social networks, individual experiences, and institutions influence people's decisions to invest and how they manage their portfolios. By combining the fields of household benahvioral finance with financial history, I study these questions using historical and contemporary data. I also study investor expectations and how derivatives regulation affects market stability.
A central part of my work is turning archival records into detailed datasets that follow investors and their holdings over time. I develop reusable AI-assisted workflows for handwriting recognition, transcription, record linkage, and validation, opening new possibilities for research on household finance.
