The international collective Sound Rebellion deals with the ephemeral, be it in the presence of sacred places, be it in sound. Composed of three organists and one electronic musician, they do sound events: site-specific performances of improvised and conceptualized music with pipe organs and live-electronics. They promote new ways of making sound at the organ with extended techniques and explore new relations between organs and other arts, places, objects and interfaces. In their latest performances, they explored the sonic possibilities of Orgelpark Amsterdam, Kunststation St. Peter Köln, Sacre-coeur-de-Jesus Montréal and Oudekerk Amsterdam. They frequently collaborate with other artists such as jazz percussionist Aurel Violas. The collective consists of Elisabeth Hubmann (AUT), Giulio Tosti (IT), Michele Del Prete (IT) and Adrian Foster (CA).

The collective promotes new ways of making sound at the organ (with reduced wind or half-obstructed pallets, sound masses). The organ takes on a completely new role as an instrument – neither sacred nor profane, but rather as a mediator. Michele Del Prete blends his sound samples with the collective improvisations of the three organists (Elisabeth Hubmann, Giulio Tosti, Adrian Foster), who improvise on multiple large pipe organs (in churches or concert halls) or sometimes on portable instruments. The encounter between new media and unconventional organ sounds can so be translated into complex, interwoven music.
