2021: Newton International Fellowship 2021
Status: Under Assessment
Title: “Mitigating heavy metal toxicity in leafy vegetables grown along urban and periurban areas in Nairobi, Kenya”. I jointly developed this application with one of my already established scientific contact Prof. Levi Yant of University of Nottingham, UK. I attended AfriPlantSci training course offered at Pwani University in collaborations with John Innes Centre, UK and I was privileged to meet and discuss this research idea with Prof. Levi and agreed to create partnerships and collaborations to explore recent scientific advances in solving the problem of food safety and insecurity.

Title: “Identification and modulation of heavy metal transport-related genes in cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.Walp.).” The project is significant in understanding the role of heavy metal transporters in uptake and accumulation of heavy metals.

2020 – Date: Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services – Kenya (KeFAAS) - As One Planet Laureate candidate, I and my mentor requested to be registered as a member of KeFAAS. I will participate in their programs and offer advisory services and solutions in climate change.
2019 – Date: Member of Community Network for African Vector-Borne Plant Viruses (CONNECTED Virus Network) - This network aims supporting research on global issues and building a sustainable network of international scientists and researchers to address the challenges of vector-borne plant viruses in Sub-Saharan Africa.
