Skills Development Scotland Careers Service
Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is Scotland’s career service and has a qualified careers adviser in every state secondary school in the country. They can help pupils understand what they’re good at, what is out there for them, and the routes and pathways to get there. They can also support pupils at option choice time, preparing their CVs, and can help with college, university and apprenticeship applications.

School Security
We appreciate that parents and carers want their child’s school to be a safe and secure environment. To provide such assurance, certain approaches have been made on the advice of Moray Council:
· During the school day, the only access to the school is via the main reception. All other doors are closed and used as emergency exits only.
· The main reception door is operated by a security call button.
· All visitors must report to the main reception and sign in and out of the building. This is mandatory because it is also used for fire/evacuation procedures.
· The school has CCTV cameras installed, which are intended to cover the school 24 hours a day.
· Pupils must not leave the school premises without the permission of a teacher during the school day. The only exception is at lunch break.
· There is a clearly defined Invacuation, Lockdown and Evacuation procedure and evacuation drills are practised at least once a term. Fire alarms are tested on a weekly basis.
· Mobile phone use is not permitted in Moray schools during the school day. Parents and carers should contact the school office if they need to contact their child urgently.
Named Person Service Availability
The Named Person Service must be made available to all children from birth to 18 years of age. During the holiday period the Named Person Service will be covered by the Local Authority centrally. The Duty Named Persons can be contacted through the general enquiries line on 01343 563374 or via the generic e-mail address educationandsocialcare@moray.gov.uk during normal working hours. As always, if the Named Person is not available and there is a concern for a child, a call must be made to Duty Social Work on 01343 563900 (08457 565 656 out of office hours) and/or the police on 101.
