Since last year, I have found myself in the position of a Providence St. Joseph volunteer; I complete my hours in the telemetry cardiac department. This role has allowed me to complete tasks that make me feel as if I am carrying an importance in people's lives, and through each shift, I learn something new about patients and hospital life. My goal is to continue volunteering at St. Joseph until I reach the one-hundred-hour mark. Having the ability to be involved in the life of nurses, doctors, and in general, any hospital worker is a privilege, and I have been able to analyze and detect what kind of positions I see myself in, in the future.
During freshman year, I began interning at Merdinian School, which is an Armenian private school; I was able to help in the front office with paperwork organization, assist teachers with simple tasks, and, most importantly, assist students. This role made me develop an interest in working with kids and made me reanalyze what specific career I want to do in the medical field that would allow me to interact with children every day. This was a detrimental and memorable experience for me as a student, and throughout my time in high school, this time period was one that I will always look upon and solely reminisce on the experience I was able to gain, which has assisted me in various aspects of life to this day. My experience shown through the pictures I took myself can be seen on the "NAF Internship" page, but this is an image of the campus that clearly displays where I spent many weeks at and gained vital memories.
Since images are not preferred to be taken during my shift, I have taken a picture of my work badge that allows me to get in and out of the hospital every week!
Each year at BHS, I set a goal for myself to join a minimum of four clubs that interest me and be an active member in all the chosen clubs. I have been a part of the Medical Associations, UNICEF, Interact Club, Key Club, and many other clubs over the past few years. These clubs have kept me interested since every year, I end up joining these clubs with my friends, and we are able to gain more knowledge and ideas about the various aspects of life, making us more prone to realizing what path interests us. I have found out more about the health care industry, I have developed a further love for the medical field through these clubs, and most importantly, I started to think about organizations I could create that correlate with the medical field, so I can be a help for my community.
