STEAM infused lessons are guided by the Engineering Design Process (EDP) where decisions about solutions are student-generated. Students are presented with a problem and work toward a solution using many disciplines. They work collaboratively to build, test and redesign their prototypes as needed so that they meet the criteria and constraints of the design challenge. STEAM lessons allow for multiple right answers and include failure as part of the learning process. STEAM lessons are collaborative, where students create a solution to a real-world problem and modify their designs after testing. The lesson integrates multiple disciplines and allow for varied and unpredictable outcomes.
