This Privacy Policy applies to the SniCap browser extension.
SniCap is designed to capture webpage elements, visible areas, and full pages selected by the user. The extension is built to process data locally in the browser and does not operate a backend service for collecting user data.
SniCap may access the following information only when needed to provide its core functionality:
Webpage content and layout on the page you choose to use with the extension, so the extension can detect the element you select and generate a screenshot.
Rendered visual content of the active tab when you trigger a capture.
Extension settings you choose, such as image format, image quality, selection behavior, and whether screenshots should be copied to the clipboard automatically.
The screenshot image generated from your selected element, visible area, or full page.
The information above is used only to:
Highlight and identify the element you want to capture.
Generate and crop the screenshot for the selected element, visible area, or full page.
Save your extension preferences.
Copy the generated image to your clipboard when you explicitly use the copy feature or enable automatic copy.
Let you download the generated image to your device.
SniCap stores limited data in browser extension storage:
chrome.storage.sync: stores your extension settings so your preferences can persist across browser sessions and, where supported by the browser platform, across signed-in browser profiles.
chrome.storage.local: may temporarily store the most recent screenshot result so the extension UI can preview and reuse the latest capture inside the extension.
The extension does not require account registration and does not create a user profile.
SniCap does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.
SniCap does not transmit screenshots, webpage content, settings, or personal data to the developer's servers or any third-party servers for analytics, advertising, tracking, or profiling.
Any screenshot you download is saved by your browser to a location you control. Any screenshot you copy is written to your system clipboard only at your direction or based on the setting you enable.
activeTab: used to interact with the tab you are currently using when you start element selection or capture a screenshot.
storage: used to save your preferences and temporarily store the latest capture result for preview inside the extension.
Host permissions for webpages: used so the extension can run on webpages where you choose to inspect and capture webpage content.
Settings remain stored until you change or reset them, or uninstall the extension.
Temporary screenshot data stored by the extension remains in local extension storage until it is replaced by a newer capture, cleared by the browser, or removed when the extension is uninstalled.
Downloaded files and clipboard contents are controlled by your browser and operating system after export.
You can:
Stop using the extension at any time.
Change or reset extension settings from the options page.
Remove downloaded screenshots from your device.
Clear browser extension storage through your browser or by uninstalling the extension.
Disable the automatic clipboard copy option at any time.
SniCap is not directed to children under 13 and is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect product or legal changes. The latest version will be the version made available with the extension's public documentation or listing.
