Audio Visual Equipment
There’s nothing quite as awesome sounding as a great audio set up. Whether you’re planning on connecting your audio equipment to a PC or home cinema system; you’ll have no trouble making the most of sound by plugging in an amazing pair of headphones or a set of surround sound speakers. Let’s take a look at some of the best types of audio equipment and what they do best.
Headphones
Headphones, or ear phones (depending on the style) are ideal for personal audio requirements. Headphones differ from ear phones in that they often cover the entire ear, whereas ear phones fit in to the ears themselves. They are very versatile and can be plugged in to MP3 players, CD players, laptops, PCs and even Smart televisions. Their main benefit is that they restrict sound to the person using the headphones. Films and music can be listened to in private, and with optional volume controls there’s not much they can’t play.
Surround Sound
Surround sound speakers, or SRS, are a unique type of speaker set up that creates the impression of being surrounded by the media being played. There are three types of surround sound systems; 5:1, 3:1 and 2:1. The first number refers to the number of smaller speakers, and the latter ‘1’ refers to the subwoofer, or the central speaker unit. These speakers can be placed around a room, and once connected to a media player (computer, console or television), they will play the sounds out loud and in real time.
Standard Speakers
These types of speakers come in a range of sizes and types, but in most cases they will be singular or doubled. The central speaker will control the power of the speaker (on/ off, volume control) and as they can be connected to PCs, laptops, televisions and consoles; there’s not much that they can’t play out loud. They do often require their own source of power, and that source of power will either be via cable or batteries.
Radio Equipment
Listening to music doesn’t have to be as restricting as 13 tracks on a CD, or a compilation on an MP3 player. Music radio channels will often play the latest tunes before anyone else, so it makes sense to keep a radio close to hand to enjoy the newest music. Radios can be plugged in to a power supply or powered with batteries. Most radios can be switched on and off, although newer models are much more portable and have a greater range of signal; meaning that music can be enjoyed from pretty much anywhere.
