Support Linda Hale for Yelm School Board District 5

As a single parent, with 5 girls in the Yelm School District including a special needs child, I understand the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive environment in our schools. Every child deserves to feel like they belong, to feel safe, and to have representative dedicated staff.

When students feel valued and included, they are more likely to feel a sense of belonging and be more invested in their school community. Belonging fosters a culture of respect, encourages critical thinking, enhances academic performance, and prepares students for a diverse world. As our society becomes more diverse, it is important that students are equipped with the skills and knowledge to navigate a multicultural world.

Our schools are more than just places of education. They are places where children learn about themselves, about each other, and about the world around them. Every student deserves an equal opportunity to succeed.  

As a school board member, I will work to ensure that all students have access to high-quality education, with a curriculum that is diverse and inclusive of different cultures, perspectives, and histories. I will work to close the opportunity gap, and to create policies and programs that promote equity, justice, fairness and belonging in our schools.

I believe that a sense of belonging is essential for every student to thrive. I will work with the other board members and the school community to create opportunities for students to build meaningful relationships with one another and with their teachers, and to foster a sense of community and connection in our schools. We should teach our students to respect and appreciate everyone’s differences and create a school environment that celebrates the unique strengths and backgrounds of all students.

My priorities as a school board director will include making sure all students have access to high-quality education, increasing equitable access to resources and opportunities for all students, supporting culturally responsive teaching practices and working to close opportunity gaps that prevent students from reaching their full potential.

With your support, I’m confident that we can co-create a school community where diversity, equity and belonging are central in decision-making. Together, we make up the fabric of this community, with all our differences, strengths, and flaws. United, we can build a stronger, more inclusive, and more empowering school community that will prepare our students for success in the 21st century.
