For
Commissioner
District 4
My name is Johnny Cook, and I’m running for District 4 County Commissioner because our community deserves strong, accountable, and transparent leadership. I’m committed to improving local infrastructure, supporting public safety, and ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used wisely and responsibly. With a focus on listening to residents and working collaboratively, I aim to bring practical solutions to the issues that matter most to District 4. I’m ready to serve, and I’m dedicated to making a positive difference for our county’s future.
Born and raised in Etowah County, I’ve spent my entire adult life living, working, and building a business right here at home. I owned and operated a local business for 21 years. My wife and I have been married for 47 years and raised three daughters, all Etowah High School graduates who went on to become nurses. My wife dedicated 33 years of service to UAB before retiring. I am a volunteer firefighter with the Reece City Fire Department and serve as a reserve pilot with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department. I also worked on the I-759 project. My life and career have been centered on serving this community and the people who call it home.
I received my auto body training from Alabama Technical College (now Gadsden State). I hold both private and commercial helicopter pilot licenses earned through Wallace State Community College.
My life has been dedicated to hard work, public service, and giving back to the community that raised me.
My goal is to meet the needs of the residents of District 4—whether that means road repairs, cleaning out ditches, or clearing rights-of-way from overhanging trees and limbs. These are basic needs, and they deserve timely attention.
I will also work to bring new businesses and industries into our area that create jobs and provide a real return on taxpayer dollars, especially when too many long-term projects have failed to produce results.
Anyone who knows me knows that when I take on a job, I do my best to meet the need and see it through to completion. Just as I don’t carry a radio simply to say I’m a firefighter, I would not serve as an elected commissioner just to hold the title. I serve because I care about this community and the people in it.
We have too much waste, too many unfinished projects, and far too many delays—especially when it comes to road work tied up by unproductive projects. That has to change.
I will make myself available to listen, to discuss concerns, and to work with residents on the needs of our district. I will devote my time and effort to serving District 4 to the very best of my ability.
Thank you for your consideration,
Johnny Cook
