This is an initiative of Democracy Hub - a collective of civil society organisations and leaders, academics, researchers and communicators. We've created this resource to help members of the public spot election interference, and report it.
It sets out the various processes for making complaints in Ireland, and gives voters all the information you need to make reports:
The pathways for making complaints, depending on the type of violation and where it took place
Links to the relevant authorities
The legislation or policy you can reference in your complaint, to help show that your report is legitimate
We saw a need for this resource when a handful of agitators started attempting to disrupt the democratic process. It supports work already going on in communities to counter division, and rising disinformation and misinformation.
Feel free to communicate any unintentional errors, updates, or gaps on this site. We’d also be interested to hear about your experiences using the various complaints mechanisms. Email report@hopeandcourage.ie.
