Too many local elected officials have behaved as if they have no ability to do their part to help people along the spectrum of housing crisis, from being homeless to being priced out of renting or homeownership, especially with rising HOA dues and insurance costs.
As District 5 El Paso County Commissioner, Jax will push to allocate available funding for programs that materially support a housing first approach, including rent/mortgage assistance and the organization of tenant unions and neighborhood associations. Jax will also pursue policies at the County level to protect tenants and homeowners, including responsible land development and, for example, whether El Paso County might require licensing for community association managers doing business in the County, which was actually a statewide law until it sunset in 2019.
Under the current presidential regime, many horrified Americans have witnessed what it means for the government to weaponize law enforcement against The People. The local level ballot box is one place where we can fight back against this disturbing turn as we head into Election 2026. Jax is an established fighter for Civil Rights running to be a local leader who faces today's tough problems like this with integrity, truth and facts. For instance, facts are that addressing the root causes of crime in our communities saves money and makes positive progress, while prisons — especially those for profit — do not.
As District 5 El Paso Commissioner, Jax will be a voice of reason and work to foster accountability regarding law enforcement operations in our community, and what helps people truly feel safe. At the County level, the intersection of the Commission with other elected offices such as the El Paso County Sheriff and the Colorado 4th Judicial District Attorney is critical to the experience of safety and justice in our community.
It is sickening to see the various forced hardships Americans must endure as the federal government has shutdown and refuses to serve The People. Jax is a voice coupled with action against the injustice of vulnerable families losing support such as food assistance (SNAP) and the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) due to malicious federal funding cuts by the current federal Administration.
As District 5 El Paso County Commissioner, Jax will also work to pursue responsible planning for the future to ensure natural resource sustainability because water is life, and Colorado's clean energy goals matter, as do The People's right to equitable treatment when dealing with corporate entities.
