If you want a versatile, durable wired headset that works with almost any computer, tablet, or school Chromebook via a standard 3.5mm jack, choose ELECDER i45; if you need a lightweight, volume-limited solution specifically designed for modern USB-C laptops and tablets, choose Bywulanda Upgrade USB Type.
• ELECDER i45: The biggest strength is its universal 3.5mm compatibility and robust nylon construction suitable for heavy daily use in classrooms; the trade-off is the lack of an inline microphone or built-in volume controls. This pick is for parents and students needing a reliable connection for older devices or mixed-device environments.
• Bywulanda Upgrade USB Type: Its standout feature is the integrated 94dB volume limiter for hearing safety and native USB-C connectivity for modern hardware; however, it lacks versatility as it cannot work with non-USB-C ports without an adapter. This pick is for families with newer Chromebooks, iPads, or Android tablets who prioritize safety limits and portability.
The ELECDER i45 feels like the workhorse of the two options, built specifically to survive the rigors of a school day. With an enclosure made from a mix of nylon and plastic, this headset is designed to be folded down to approximately 6 by 4.53 by 2.87 inches, making it compact enough for backpacks yet sturdy enough to handle being tossed around by kids. The on-ear design utilizes 40-millimeter dynamic drivers that cover a standard frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, ensuring clear audio for both educational videos and entertainment.
What makes this model particularly practical for the home office or classroom is its universal connectivity. Because it relies on a standard 1.5-meter cord with a 3.5mm jack, it connects directly to desktop PCs, older laptops, game consoles, and smartphones without needing dongles or adapters. While the product description notes that newer iPhones or specific iPad Pros might require a separate Lightning-to-3.5mm adapter, the vast majority of computers and Chromebooks will accept it immediately. This flexibility means you are not locked into a single ecosystem.

However, you should skip this model if your primary requirement involves taking calls while listening to music. These headphones do not include a built-in microphone, nor do they feature inline media control buttons for pausing or skipping tracks. Volume adjustments must be done manually on the device itself. Additionally, while the headband is adjustable for different head circumferences, the design is explicitly recommended for children over eight years old, though adults can wear them comfortably. If you need a dedicated "best hifi stereo sleep headphones for computer" experience with active noise cancellation or call capabilities, the i45 is too basic for those specific tasks.
The Bywulanda Upgrade USB Type C Headphone takes a different approach, focusing heavily on the specific needs of modern portable devices and child safety. Weighing in at just 0.17 kg, it is significantly lighter than many competitors, which helps reduce neck strain during long study sessions. The enclosure is made entirely of plastic, finished in a light pink color, and features a foldable design that prioritizes portability. The on-ear placement ensures a secure fit for younger users, and the manufacturer explicitly targets the theme of movies and video games, suggesting a tuning that favors engaging soundscapes for entertainment.
The most critical feature here is the 94dB safe volume limit. In an era where digital audio can easily damage young ears, this hard cap is a massive selling point for parents buying headphones for computer use. Unlike the ELECDER, this unit includes touch-based volume control directly on the ear cup, allowing a student to adjust the level without fumbling with their laptop or tablet. The direct USB-C connectivity means there is no need for extra cables or adapters when paired with modern Chromebooks, Samsung tablets, or the latest Windows laptops. It is a sleek, purpose-built tool for the current generation of digital learning.
That said, this headphone comes with significant limitations regarding compatibility. It is strictly a USB-C device and offers zero functionality with older 3.5mm ports, desktop speakers, or gaming consoles that rely on the traditional round jack. If your family still uses a PC with only legacy audio ports, this product will sit unused unless you have a converter handy. Furthermore, it does not include a microphone function, so it is purely for listening. If you need a headset that can double as a communication tool for virtual class discussions or online gaming chat, this model falls short. It is best suited for passive listening in a controlled environment where safety and modern connectivity are the top priorities.
• Best for universal compatibility → ELECDER i45: Its 3.5mm jack works with virtually any audio source, from old desktop towers to modern phones (with a simple adapter).
• Best for hearing safety → Bywulanda Upgrade USB Type: The built-in 94dB limiter provides a guaranteed ceiling on volume, offering peace of mind for parents concerned about hearing damage.
• Best for weight and portability → Bywulanda Upgrade USB Type: At 0.17 kg, it is nearly half the weight of the i45, making it easier for small children to carry and wear for extended periods.
• Best for volume control convenience → Bywulanda Upgrade USB Type: Touch controls on the ear cup allow for easy adjustments without touching the computer screen.
• Best for durability materials → ELECDER i45: The combination of nylon and plastic suggests a more rugged build compared to the all-plastic construction of the Bywulanda.
• Best for modern devices → Bywulanda Upgrade USB Type: Direct USB-C support eliminates cable clutter for users with the latest Chromebooks and tablets.
• Best for multimedia multitasking → ELECDER i45: While neither has a mic, the i45's standard jack allows for easier switching between multiple types of devices without swapping cables.
• Best warranty coverage → Bywulanda Upgrade USB Type: It comes with a 2-year warranty compared to the 1-year coverage provided by ELECDER.
In my opinion, if I were shopping for a pair of lightweight bluetooth headphones for computer (or rather, wired alternatives) for a student, I would choose the Bywulanda Upgrade USB Type. The reason is simple: the 94dB volume limit is a non-negotiable safety feature for children's hearing, and the direct USB-C connection fits the reality of today's school technology perfectly. The reduced weight also matters when a kid wears them for hours. However, if your household relies on a mix of older devices, desktops, or gaming consoles, the ELECDER i45 remains the safer bet for its sheer adaptability. Ultimately, for a dedicated computer setup where safety and modern convenience rule, the Bywulanda wins the day.
Both models offer sound isolation, but neither is designed as specialized sleep headphones. The ELECDER i45 is bulkier due to its nylon construction, while the Bywulanda is lighter and might be more comfortable for side-sleepers, provided the USB-C cable doesn't get tangled.
No. Neither the ELECDER i45 nor the Bywulanda Upgrade USB Type includes a built-in microphone. They are designed strictly for audio playback, so you will need to use the computer's internal mic or a separate headset for conversations.
You cannot plug the Bywulanda USB-C headphones directly into a standard desktop 3.5mm port. You would need a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter, which defeats the purpose of the direct connection. The ELECDER i45 works natively with standard jacks on most desktops.
The Bywulanda is likely the better choice due to its lighter 0.17 kg weight and specifically marketed age range for kids. The ELECDER i45 is adjustable but heavier at 0.28 kg, which might cause discomfort for smaller children during long sessions.
