If you want durable, all-in-one on-ear headphones for a child or teen navigating school and travel, choose ELECDER i37; if you need a specialized replacement cushion to restore comfort to your existing premium over-ear headphones during long commutes, choose APGLSXY Commute Use Headband. These two items sit in completely different corners of the audio accessory market. One is a complete listening device designed for young users, while the other is a single component meant to fix an existing pair of high-end headphones. Trying to compare them as direct competitors is like comparing a new car to a replacement tire; they serve fundamentally different purposes, yet both address specific needs in the world of personal audio.
• ELECDER i37: The biggest strength is its ready-to-use, lightweight design with a 3.5mm wired connection that works instantly with almost any device without batteries or pairing. The trade-off is that it is strictly wired and targeted toward younger ears, lacking wireless convenience or noise cancellation features. This pick is for parents looking for a simple, foldable headphone for a child's daily commute or schoolwork.
• APGLSXY Commute Use Headband: The biggest strength is its targeted fit for Sony models, using protein leather to replace worn-out top pads and extend the life of expensive over-ear gear. The trade-off is that it is not a standalone product; it requires you to already own compatible headphones and involves a manual installation process. This pick is for commuters who love their current headphones but are tired of the headband digging into their scalp after hours of wear.
The ELECDER i37 is built as a complete, self-contained solution for children and teens. It is an on-ear headphone that prioritizes simplicity and portability. The unit features a folding design, which makes it easy to slip into a backpack or suitcase when traveling by airplane or car. For families who need a reliable audio companion that won't get lost or broken easily, the compact nature of this device is a major plus. The materials used include plastic and metal components, ensuring a balance between durability and weight. At just 0.24 kg, it is light enough that a small child can wear it for extended periods without neck strain.
Connectivity is straightforward and robust. The headphone utilizes a standard 3.5 mm jack with an L-shaped stereo plug. This means it does not rely on Bluetooth, batteries, or complex setup processes. You simply plug it into a smartphone, laptop, tablet, Chromebook, or even a DVD player, and sound starts immediately. The dynamic driver offers a frequency range from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, providing a full spectrum of audio suitable for music, movies, and educational content. The impedance of 32 ohms ensures it works well with the output power of typical portable devices without needing an external amplifier.
Who should buy this? If you are searching for the best bluetooth earbuds for construction work, this is not the tool for the job, as it lacks wireless capability and rugged industrial rating. However, if you need head phones for construction work environments where safety regulations require hearing protection or where wireless signals might be restricted, a wired option like this has its place. More commonly, this is ideal for school use. It provides sound isolation through its on-ear design, helping kids focus on their learning materials. The manufacturer includes a one-year warranty and 24/7 email support, which adds a layer of security for parents making a purchase. Who should skip it? Anyone looking for wireless freedom or deep noise-canceling technology will find this too basic. It is also not suitable for adults with larger heads, as the adjustable band is optimized for smaller to petite adult sizes and children aged three and up.

The APGLSXY product is a very specific part: a replacement top pad for headphones. It is not a set of speakers or a listening device on its own. Instead, it is a curved protein leather cushion designed to fit over the existing headband of compatible models, specifically the Sony WH-1000XM3 (PX7S3) and XM4 (PX8S). When high-end headphones are worn daily for commuting, the original padding often flattens, becomes rough, or loses its cushioning properties. This causes pressure points on the top of the head, making long train rides or flights uncomfortable. This replacement pad solves that exact problem.
The design focuses on a "focused fit" for the upper area of these specific headphones. The curved end clip design ensures the pad sits neatly on the headset, maintaining the aesthetic and structural integrity of the original device. By replacing the worn section, you renew the everyday comfort of the headset without having to throw away a pair of otherwise excellent headphones. The outer layer is made of protein leather, which feels gentler on the skin than older, degraded foam or fabric covers. This material choice helps make commute, home video watching, and workday use more comfortable by distributing pressure more evenly.
Who should buy this? This is the ultimate upgrade for anyone whose favorite over-ear headphones have become painful to wear after a few years of heavy use. If you spend hours on the road or in an office wearing large headphones, the original headband pad might have compressed. Installing this 145 x 90 x 36 mm pad restores the softness and shape. It is a cost-effective way to keep premium audio gear in rotation. Who should skip it? If you do not own the specific compatible models mentioned, this item is useless to you. It is also not a solution for someone looking for a new pair of headphones; it is purely a maintenance part. The warranty covers 90 days from the date of purchase, which is standard for replacement accessories.
• Best for immediate audio playback → ELECDER i37: You get a fully functional headphone out of the box with no extra parts needed.
• Best for extending the life of existing gear → APGLSXY Commute Use Headband: It saves you money by refurbishing an old pair of high-end headphones rather than buying new ones.
• Best for portability and travel → ELECDER i37: The foldable design fits easily into small bags, whereas the pad is just a small component.
• Best for comfort restoration → APGLSXY Commute Use Headband: Specifically targets the pain point of flat headbands on large headphones.
• Best for wired reliability → ELECDER i37: No charging required, just plug and play via the 3.5mm jack.
• Best for specific compatibility → APGLSXY Commute Use Headband: Only works with specific Sony models, offering a perfect fit for those units.
• Best for younger users → ELECDER i37: Sized and weighted appropriately for children and teens.
• Best for long-duration wear on adults → APGLSXY Commute Use Headband: Helps alleviate the pressure that causes headaches during long commutes.
I would buy the ELECDER i37 if I were equipping a child for school or travel because it is a complete, hassle-free solution that delivers sound immediately without the need for charging or pairing. However, for myself as an adult commuter, I would choose the APGLSXY Commute Use Headband to replace the worn padding on my existing over-ear headphones. Both products excel in their specific lanes: the ELECDER i37 is a solid entry-level wired option for younger users, while the APGLSXY pad is a smart, practical investment for maintaining the comfort of high-end audio equipment. Neither is a universal answer, but each is the right answer for its intended scenario. If you are looking for the best headband headphones for construction work or similar rugged environments, neither of these is the primary choice, as they lack the industrial durability ratings required for such sites. But for general daily use, whether for a kid's homework or a commuter's ride, these specs point to clear winners in their respective categories.
Neither product is rated for industrial noise protection. The ELECDER i37 is for casual listening, and the APGLSXY is a replacement part for consumer headphones. For construction work, you need certified safety gear with higher noise reduction ratings.
No, the package includes only the single replacement top pad. Installation relies on the existing clips or attachment mechanism of your compatible Sony headphones.
The headphones themselves are wired and do not have Bluetooth capability. You would need an external 3.5mm to Bluetooth transmitter plugged into the headphone jack to achieve wireless functionality.
