What does Elijah stand for?

Below are Elijah's responses to some of today's key issues. If you have a specific question about how he might vote on something feel free to contact him with any questions.

Guns

Every individual has a right to defend himself and the 2nd amendment was made for this purpose. I believe that any law or bill that attempts to change or limit this right is unconstitutional.

Faith

I believe that the Bible is the Word of God and therefore try to live my life accordingly. I also believe that each individual has a right to worship, or not worship God as he pleases. I do not believe the government should ever interfere with an individual's rights to exercise his religious beliefs, unless these beliefs put others in danger (i.e. violence and coercion are never the answer).

Medical Freedom

It is the right of every individual and parent to make their own educated decisions about their health and the health of their family. I believe that people should educate themselves as much as possible and that a doctor's advice is invaluable, but each person has a right to make their own decision about his health and the health of their child.

Education

A parent has the right to decide how their child is educated. I understand that a system of checks must be in place to ensure that we are not becoming an illiterate society, but these checks should be extremely limited. Ultimately it is the responsibility of each parent to ensure their child is properly educated, be that at home, in public school, or in private school.

Budget

In order for any system of finance to survive, it must be operating from a place of balance. This is true for a family. This is true for a business. And this is especially true for a government. The only way to strengthen our economy is to create a financial situation that will invite businesses and people into our state and not tax them to the point of exhaustion. We must learn as a state to work within our means.

Life

Every life is sacred. From the point of conception until natural death.
