El Centro SB
An activist-led grassroots community space located on the lower west side of Santa Barbara that centers people working towards the liberation and uplifting of people of color including but not limited to Womxn, Youth, Indigenous, Black, Latinx, Economically Underserved, and LGBTQIA+ communities.
El Centro was established for these groups to exercise artistic expression, fund-raise, host meetings, offer educational events, and promote celebrations to connect folks to a collective struggle toward self-determination, self-empowerment, self-expression, and liberation of the global community, and most of all, to share in collective joy.
Our intention is to have space "for the community by the community," with committed volunteers and organizers who are building critical dialogue and action for justice and equity.

A youth summer and spring break critical education program promoting de-colonial efforts, ran by members of the lower Westside community, but open to all in the region.
Our westside youth and children are empowered to learn (and teach others) about: Chumash stories, land hxstories, native plants, cooking, movement, different art practices and much more.
"Education does not change the world. Education changes people. People change the world" -Paulo Freire
Every first Friday of the month we host an Open Mic bringing community together, reflecting over rhythm, sound & performance.
