A project connecting students across the Little Tennessee River watershed to help rewild the Oconaluftee River
Participating Students are from school districts in the Little Tennessee watershed: Swain County, Mountain Discovery Charter School, New Kituah Academy, Cherokee Central Schools, The Catamount School, and Jackson County Schools.
Teachers meet monthly to share lessons and ideas for teaching about the Oconaluftee river and the dam removal
Students ages 10 to 18 have voice and choice about how to interact with the dam removal
Students will work with engineers, biologists, and culture-keepers to learn and contribute to the project
An event tentatively in April will be held to celebrate the river and the students' contributions.
