About

I am a spatial data scientist with over a decade of experience in applying cutting-edge techniques and methods to address complex socio-economic and environmental challenges. My interests lie on topics of spatiotemporal data mining and analysis, spatial statistics, GeoAI, human mobility, sensor-based personal mobility and health, geovisualization, and GIS.

As the Spatial Data Science Lead and Research Associate at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER), I am the Principal Investigator (PI) of several research projects: COVID-Contrail, GP4H, IMSensing, and GEOFAIR. Before joining LISER, I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow & Lecturer at Department of Geography & URPP Dynamics of Healthy Aging, University of Zurich, Switzerland for sensor-based personal mobility and health projects: MOASIS, MOBITEC-GP, and MOBITEC-Stroke. I received a PhD in Geography with a focus on Geographic Information Science from Pennsylvania State University, USA.

I collaborate with international and local partners in the US, Europe, and Asia, and I supervise research assistants and graduate students. My mission is to advance spatial data science for the public good as well as industrial innovations, and to contribute to the scientific knowledge and practices in the fields of urban mobility, climate change, health, and aging.
