Honors and Awards

Junior Marshals

The weighted grade point average will be calculated at the end of the 1st semester of the junior year for all juniors. The Junior Marshals will represent the top 10% of the class and will have a vital role in all senior activities.

gRADUATION cORDS

  • American Red Cross- A red cord is presented to students who have donated blood at least 3 times.

  • Beta Club- A Black & Gold cord is presented to seniors with 3+ years in Beta, active participation, attendance in at least two conventions, and community service.

  • Honors Graduates- A Gold cord is presented to all seniors with a weighted 3.5 GPA at the end of the Fall semester.

  • National Honors Society-A White stole is purchased by seniors with a GPA of 3.75 or higher in the National Honors Society.

  • National Technical Honors Society-A white sash-CTE concentrator with a 3.5 or higher GPA of all CTE courses

  • ROTC Commitment- A Black/gold cord is presented to cadets who have completed 4 or more semesters.

  • ROTC Service to our Country- A Red/White/Blue cord is presented to cadets who are enlisting in any military branch.

  • Tri-M- A Pink Cord- 3+ semesters in band or chorus and participation in Tri-M club

  • Workkeys- White cord- students must have a CTE concentrator and score silver(average of 4 on all 3 tests) in Workkeys.

Diploma endorsements

The five diploma endorsements available to NC public school graduates are:

  • Career Endorsement indicates completion of a rigorous course of study that includes a Career Technical Education concentration.

  • College Endorsement indicates readiness for entry into NC Community Colleges.

  • College/UNC Endorsement indicates readiness for entry into a four-year university in the University of North Carolina system.

  • NC Academic Scholars Endorsement indicates that students have completed a balanced and academically rigorous high school program preparing them for post-secondary education.

  • Global Languages Endorsement indicates proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English.
