Mission

Mission Our mission is to meet the individual needs of each student at Essex High School while fostering an environment of project-based, and student-centered learning. We strive to promote a culture of reading, learning, and collaboration while recognizing and embracing the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of our student body. We aim to teach our students better information-seeking behavior, as well as provide them with necessary career/workplace readiness skills.

Library Policy

During Homeroom and Class Time

  • Students must have a pass from the classroom teacher.

  • Students need to sign in and out.

Before/After School and During Lunch

  • Students may use the library before and after school as well as during their lunch period.

  • Any students wishing to visit the library during their lunch period needs to request and receive a pass from Mrs. Davis in the morning before homeroom. The pass is good for that day only.

Check out Policy for Students

  • Students may check out books for 2 weeks.

  • Books may not be checked out if students have overdue books.

  • Books may be renewed unless on hold for another student.

  • No fines will be charged to students, but they are responsible for lost or damaged materials. Students may not check out other books until overdue books are returned or the replacement cost is paid.

  • Overdue notices will be distributed periodically.
