We're always looking for East Hills students that are excited to be a part of our podcast! Sharing content for an episode is easy. Here's how to put together a great segment for the air.
Trust me on this one. When I was first putting together a demo episode, I tried just "winging" it. It sounded terrible! So instead, I wrote down what I wanted to say. I reread it, revised it and read it again to make sure it said exactly what I wanted to say.
Again, my first go 'round wasn't all that smooth. Practice reading what you want to say a few times for fluency. Simple fact: the more you practice, the better you will sound. Remember, once the episode is published, everyone in the world with access to the internet will be able to hear what you have to say. You want it to be just right.
There are several ways to record your audio for our podcast. The first is by sending us a voice message by clicking on the "Start recording" button below. You will be able to review your message before sending it.
You can also record your audio by using your smartphone or tablet.
On an iPhone, you can use the built in Voice Memos app. It's as simple as opening it and pressing the red button to start recording. When you are finished, press the red button again. Finally, you can rename your voice memo following the procedure listed in Step 4 below by tapping on the name of the "New Recording" which will highlight for you to type a new name.
On an android, you have to download a recording app in order to be able to record voice memos. There are many choices available, but Easy Voice Recorder is a free app that has a very good rating. It works similarly to iPhone's Voice Memos. To record, you press the red button to begin and again to stop. You can also name your recording anything you want. To submit your recording, follow the procedure in Step 4 below.
To submit your audio to our podcast, please rename your audio file using the following format:
Lastname.Firstname.Subject
So, suppose this month's prompt was:
Please submit stories of something you are grateful for at home, in school or in your community and tell us why.
If I were going to submit an audio file for possible use on the show, I would change the name of the audio file to:
Flaherty.Jennifer.Grateful
Last names will NOT be used on the show, but including them in the title of your audio file will help us to know who has been on the podcast so that we can include as many children as possible in the show.
Once you have renamed your audio, you can submit it by pressing the share button on your phone and emailing it to JFlaherty@RoslynSchools.org or by texting it to
You can watch the step-by-step video below. And of course, if you have any questions, please reach out to me via email and I'd be happy to help!
