Frank Critchley, a recognised expert in the area, was awarded a grant from the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences to organise a workshop on Computational Information Geometry for Image and Signal Processing (CIGISP), together with Kit Dodson and Frank Nielsen. It was held during 21-25 September 2015.
Along with the two other meetings organised under this project (MATTER and WOMAT), this workshop provided a major opportunity to enhance impact by gathering together experts in cognate communities to exchange the latest research results and constructively explore a variety of pathways to impact. It focused on the application and development of information geometric methods in the analysis, classification and retrieval of images and signals, particularly for medical applications. Further details are given in the preface to the resulting, peer-reviewed, edited volume , of the same title as the workshop, published by Springer.
