Welcome! I am Efraín M. Monterroso, an Education Policy & Analysis Professional with a focus on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to support educators, learners and families with in the education ecosystem.
Currently I work at the Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs for the DC Mayor's Office leading on the Judiciary, Public Safety, and Education portfolio.
My research at the Harvard Graduate School of Education focused on issues affecting the teacher workforce with an emphasis on the teacher shortage crisis, minority educators, ICT implementation, and education support professional.
In the non-profit sector, I focused my work on the summer learning gap, program development, fundraising and grant management.
As a former NEA member and employee, my work has focused on engaging minority and early career educators in the work of the association to empower them to use their voice to improve the quality and experience of those within the education system through policy and elections.
It is my belief that as citizens, we have the responsibility to advocate for the genuine pursuit of equity and inclusion, and to strive to address the most uncertain, complex, and ambiguous parts of our lives and the world.
