This website, the "EETP Portal", was created for participants and stakeholders involved in the Empowered Entrepreneur Training Programs executed as part of Winrock International's USAID-funded Developing a Sustainable Cookstove Sector (DSCS) Project (2012-2017). While the project is now over, DSCS partner Visionaria Network has taken over hosting of this free, interactive site to enable updates as needed.

Developing a Sustainable Cookstove Sector: Empowered Entrepreneurs
“Empowerment is more than skills and knowledge — it’s realizing one’s own self-worth and ability to perform more than what we think we can.” This is what one participant in the Empowered Entrepreneur Training Program learned from the experience.
Women play a critical role in the cookstove value chain. As primary users of household energy products such as cleaner cookstoves, women can catalyze the market as micro-entrepreneurs and distributors of clean energy technologies. But first, they need proper support to develop and grow into successful entrepreneurs.
The “Empowered Entrepreneur Training Handbook” builds key business, agency-based empowerment and leadership skills that help women create and focus on their goals and prepare them to take advantage of opportunities when they arise
The program consisted of 5-day in-person training programs, led by Dr. Anita Shankar and Genevieve Smith, “Empowered Entrepreneur Training Handbook” authors, included trainer-of-trainer programs in Nairobi, Kenya (2015 & 2017) and Bangalore, India (2016). There are now over 60 certified trainers from around the world.
