About Me

My name is Mr. Yockey and I am a Technology Integrator and Help Desk Technician at a K-8 school in the Greater Toronto Area. I am developing this site as part of a "Passion Project" that our Grade 1-8 students and teachers are working on individually during the COVID-19 pandemic. As schools all over the world settle into their remote learning routines, it's important that people take time to focus on things they love doing. If I we weren't in lock down, I'd continue visiting these various places in my free time.

My passion for Ontario's Ghost Town Heritage stems mostly from my love for local history. Additionally, I grew up reading Weird New Jersey Magazine and visiting the various sites featured in that publication (I am originally from the Delaware Valley). Most of the content on the site, at current, revolves around the ghost towns outlined in Ron Brown's book Ontario's Ghost Town Heritage. As the site evolves, I may expand the content on Eerie Ontario to include other abandoned sites, local lore, and roads less traveled.
