Project Overview

The first equine research farm at the University of Kentucky will set the standard for water and resource management. This project details an environmental plan for drainage, and runoff pollutants that exceeds regulations and requirements of the university, state, and federal government.

The goal of the project is to organize barns, laboratory space, tracks, and a polo field in a way that is conducive to water and nutrient conservation. The arrangement of these entities, with the use of best management practices, will defend against flooding with the consideration of aesthetics and convenience.

Objectives:

  • Approve layout of barns, laboratory, and dog leg track
  • Design polo field with effective water control
  • Manage water runoff from future impervious surfaces
  • Recommend best water management practices
  • Construct an accurate model using laser printing equipment of the farm's new layout and elevations.
