We started the haunted house in 2017. We want to raise awareness of childhood cancer and the need for wishes. It has grown into a Christmas display also benefiting Wish foundations.
Be on the lookout for information about a blood drive this year! Edward's only question to the doctors was, could he donate blood? Unfortunately, he will never be able to donate, but he can organize one! Since his friends are above the age to donate, we thought we would add a blood drive this year. Perfect for all the vampires out there.
Edward was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2017. Edward also loved Halloween. He asked for years for our family to create a haunted house. Anything that would make him smile during treatment was well worth it. We threw it together thinking Edward was done with treatment that October and would just do one year. Little did we know his cancer was growing again. The one time haunted house needed a second year. With his wish being postponed, we decided to start fundraising for his trip. He heard about the free ice cream all day long, even at breakfast and wanted to cover his ice cream bill. We collected $700 that year. From there we have had an inside haunted house and a drive by haunted yard. Edward is now in remission following a Stem Cell Transplant and Proton Beam Radiation. Edward is in his senior year in High School. He has some side effects from treatments that will be ongoing but he remains cancer free.
You will find this mask painted as Darth Vader in the haunted house. See if you can spot it.
