Following the completion of his general surgery residency at Saint Raphael Campus-Yale New Haven Hospital, the doctor finished his Ph.D. thesis in 2000. After then, Dr. Calcaterra studied at the University of Miami. He finished a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery there before completing a fellowship in aortic surgery at the Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine. He has board certification in both general and cardiothoracic surgery today.
