As a part of the engineering curriculum at Villanova, I formed a team for my capstone project where we designed an autonomous ground vehicle capable of GPS waypoint navigation and target following. My roles on the team were team leader and programmer. For this project, I was responsible for managing the progress of the team and to help the other members with any roadblocks they encountered. In addition, I programmed the computer vision and autonomy of the vehicle. Together we were able to create a highly successful prototype which achieved 3rd place in the mechanical engineering capstone competition.
Though I was in charge of the programming, because of my experience in RoboBoat and RobotX, I was also heavily involved in the design of the vehicle in general by providing feedback to my teammates who were responsible for the other electrical or mechanical subsystems. This included its chassis, the suspension system, drive system, and electronics. Overall, I was extremely please with the design process, the result, as well as the performance of my teammates.
