014: Mental Health Days

"Suck it up!" "What are your students going to do without you?" "You should be in the classroom everyday?" You may have heard or thought these things if you have ever taken, or considered taking, a mental health day as a teacher. Dave, Clay, and Taylor tackle the topic of teachers taking time away from the classroom for their mental health. With three different experiences and perspectives, they come together, not to find solutions, but to ask more questions.

We're wondering:

Is there a stereotype around teachers taking mental health days, and is it generational?

Is there a way that schools and districts can be more proactive about teacher mental health to lessen the need for mental health days?
