This video features multiple celebrities thanking former President Barack Obama for his overwhelming support shown towards the LGBTQ+ community. During his presidency, he allowed gay and lesbian people to openly serve in the military, and his administration stopped supporting the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which refused to federally recognize same-sex couples. President Obama also appointed over two hundred fifty LGBTQ+ individuals to federal positions, and he was the first person to designate a national monument in honor of LGBTQ+ rights, which is the location of the Stonewall Inn in New York City.
