This Privacy Policy describes how EduSetu ("we", "our", or "us"), an educational and school ERP application, collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect To provide a seamless school management and learning experience, we collect and process the following types of information:
Personal Information: Name, email address, phone number, and school-assigned role (e.g., student, teacher, admin) for authentication and access control.
Educational Data: Attendance records, homework assignments, submissions, exam results, and quiz responses.
Device Permissions & Media:
Camera: Used to take and upload photos for homework submissions, quizzes, and profile customization.
Storage/Photos/Files: Used to access, upload, and save documents (like PDFs, Excel sheets) and media files related to homework and reports.
Location Data: We request permission to access your device's location (GPS coordinates). This is used solely in the foreground when marking attendance to verify that the user is physically present within the school's authorized geofenced perimeter. We do NOT track or collect location data in the background or share it with third parties.
2. How We Use Your Information We use the collected data to:
Authenticate users and ensure secure login access.
Enable teachers to assign homework, generate quizzes, and post results.
Allow students to submit assignments, view marks, and mark geofenced attendance.
Send administrative notifications and updates.
3. Data Storage and Security We use industry-standard cloud services (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage) to store and protect your data. Access is protected by user authentication rules to ensure that only authorized school members can view the educational records.
4. Third-Party Services We use the following third-party services in our app:
Google Firebase: For user authentication, cloud database hosting, and storage.
5. Your Rights and Choices You can manage and revoke camera, storage, and location permissions at any time through your device's settings menu. Revoking these permissions may prevent certain features (like marking attendance or uploading attachments) from functioning.
