Welcome!
My name is Tanya. My preferred pronouns are she/her/hers. This website was created to document my learning journey as I progress through the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP) at Vancouver Community College (VCC).
I was born in Newfoundland, grew up in Prince George and have had the privilege to live work and play on the beautiful unceded traditional homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, in the city commonly known as Vancouver, for the last 30 years. I am a registered physiotherapist and currently hold the position of Regional Physiotherapy Educator with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). While I have over 12 years of practical experience with providing education over my career, I have had limited formal training.
I decided to take the PIDP program to give me a better foundation and fill that gap. I hope that this program will enhance my ability to fulfill the roles and responsibilities of my current position as well as open up potential future career pathways.
What do I teach? The Regional Physiotherapy Educator position sits in the Clinical Education and Professional Practice departments at VCH. In brief, my main responsibilities are student practice education and coordination, regional orientation, and continuing education for physiotherapists within VCH.
Special Interests: Some of my hobbies are watching documentaries, studying languages and crocheting. It was my love of studying languages that led me to my husband and my daughter, who help me learn and grow every day.
