In today's post I have decided to talk a little about learning communities and give my opinion. Two years ago, before the COVID Pandemic, I was able to work as a volunteer at CEIP San Lucas y MarĂa, in Toledo.
I leave you the following form, to find out how much society knows about learning communities
They are a proposal for educational transformation that understands education as the participation of the entire community in it. It is based on dialogic learning and successful educational actions.
Awareness: the entire educational community must be trained and strengths and weaknesses identified to determine the necessary educational actions.
Decision making: stage where the decision is made to convert the school into a Learning Community.
Dreams: at this stage the educational community dreams of the school they want in the future.
Selection of priorities: in this stage the dreams most shared by the community are carried out.
Planning: it is the stage where the path to be followed is designed. Mixed work commissions are also formed, assemblies are held where personnel from the entire educational community must participate.
Dialogic learning is based on seven points: equal dialogue, cultural intelligence, transformation, creation of meaning, solidarity, instrumental dimension and equality of differences.
Successful educational actions are practices that increase academic performance and improve coexistence and solidarity attitudes. Some of them are: Tutored libraries, dialogical gatherings where knowledge is built through dialogue in disciplines such as literature or art. Interactive groups, where the class is divided into subgroups and an adult is incorporated into each of them. The teacher prepares as many activities as there are groups in each class, the groups change activities every 15/20 min. They must resolve the activities through equal dialogue.
I was able to volunteer in the interactive groups, specifically Physical Education in the second year of Primary. I found it to be a wonderful experience and one that I recommend to people who like to teach and work with children. It also seemed to me to be a type of education that is little known but that can have a great impact in the future. The involvement of families is a very important point and is beneficial in the learning of the little ones
