My name is Joshua Hardester. I am originally from the Bay Area in California. For the past three years, I have taught elementary PE at a dual language school in East Boston, Massachusetts. Next year, I will split time teaching PE at a Pre-Kindergarten and a public Montessori school. I am excited for the new challenges.
When I am not teaching, I love to run, swim, and ride my bike with my wife and my son. I love trying new activities that remind me of the vulnerability that our students experience in the gym.
Starting as a Peace Corps Volunteer in 2009, I have worked with sport for development non-profits in Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and New England with non-profit organizations that use Sport for Development.
In 2014, I received a certificate in non-profit accounting. I have become a data nerd ever since. I track and chart all my runs and my students' workouts on Google Sheets. I have enjoyed using the fitnessgram platform also. Last year, I trained other PE teachers in Boston how to use tools like jamboard and Sworkit in their virtual classrooms.
I look forward to learning more this fall.
