Coursework

Our course is broken into modules, each module covers a different aspect of online teaching and learning. Module tasks include:

• The first module is a required Orientation which includes an introduction to the course and its expectations.

• In each module, you will complete various tasks, including reflections, discussions, quizzes, and/or projects.

• There is no Midterm or Final Exam. 

There are four Reflection assignments in the course. These Reflections are opportunities to further explore and discuss the topics in some of our modules.

• You may choose to complete the Reflections in three different ways: video response, written response, or slideshow response. 

  • The first reflection will be a KWL discussion. 

  • The second reflection will be based on equity, accessibility, and policies. 

  • The third reflection will focus on current practices and your LMS tasks. 

  • The final reflection will focus on your takeaways from the course.

There is one group project that will require you to collaborate with your peers.

• You will work in pre-assigned Project Groups within Canvas. 

• Your group project will discuss ideas for creating a week-long online lesson following the 5E Instructional Model (explained in the course).

• There is no late work accepted for the Group Project.

There are three individual online projects in the course that require submission and peer review.  

• You will create a video with captions introducing yourself to a future class. 

• You will create an example homepage for a course.

• You will create an accessible assignment page for a course.

• You will submit these assignments for your peers to review and leave feedback.
