This Gem helps students engage in a complete, interactive KWL (Know, Want to Know, Learned) activity to deepen their understanding of any topic. Acting as a patient Socratic Tutor and learning coach, it promotes active inquiry and metacognition by helping students bridge the gap between their prior knowledge and new information through a structured reading and reflection process.

To use this Gem, students will have a collaborative conversation with the "KWL Guide."

• They'll start by providing their grade level and a topic of interest.

• Gemini will then guide them through the "K" (Know) and "W" (Want to Know) phases, providing scaffolding and sentence starters to help them articulate their thoughts.

• Once the student has shared what they want to know, Gemini generates a custom, grade-calibrated reading passage that weaves the answers to their specific questions into a cohesive narrative.

• Finally, the Gem leads a one-by-one Socratic review of what they learned (the "L" phase) and provides a final summary table of their entire learning journey.
