Event Details:

EdTechTeam would like to invite you to apply to join members of Google Earth Education's Trainer Network (GETN) and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society for an exclusive, one-day workshop where you will work closely with experts to learn how to incorporate Geo tools across the curriculum and develop in-class activities for your students to use.

Location: Jasper, Alberta (Address TBA)

Date: Sunday, October 22nd, 2017

Deadline: Applications must be submitted by the end of the day on October 1, 2017. All applications submitted by this date will receive equal consideration. Applications after that date will be processed if space remains available.

Workshop Brief: Attendees will learn how to create high quality Street View images for Google Maps and Earth, and then publish those images to the web. We'll then put those skills to into practice as we'll travel up the Jasper Skytram to capture and publish Street View imagery on top of the mountain in the afternoon and early evening. More specific details can be found below.

Time: 8:30-12:30 (Workshop) 2:00-Evening (Mapping & Capturing Street View imagery of Whistlers' Mountain after a Skytram ride up to the summit)

Workshop Info:

While at this particular Google Geo workshop in Jasper, you'll be given the opportunity to...

  • Create and publish Street View imagery with your own smartphone and a (provided) 360 degree camera to Google Earth and Maps.
  • Take a deep dive into some advanced features of the new Google Earth
  • Learn the basics of coding files for Google Earth (KML/KMZ)
  • Work closely with the experts on the Google Geo Education Trainer network to develop in-class activities and models for your students to use.
  • Thanks in part to our partners, Marmot Basin and Jasper Skytram, you’ll be given the opportunity to travel up the mountain via gondola to capture and publish Street View imagery of your experience to Google Maps and Earth. Please note that while the training and Jasper Skytram experience is free, attendees are responsible for their own travel costs.
