Title: Effective Communication for Student Leaders
Course: EDTC 6332 – Educational Technology Practicum
Institution: University of Texas Rio Grande Valley
This training module was developed to help UTRGV student leaders, the STUN Troopers, strengthen their communication skills. By completing this module, learners will:
Structure ideas clearly using the Problem → Solution → Benefits framework.
Use assertive and confident phrasing in group communication.
Apply active listening and give constructive feedback.
Take ownership of solutions through committed, actionable statements.
These skills are designed to increase confidence, improve teamwork, and support successful leadership at the Student Tailgate event and beyond.
As the module creator, my goal was to design a concise, interactive, and practical learning experience that student leaders can complete in 15–30 minutes. The design follows the ADDIE instructional model and integrates active learning strategies such as practice activities, role-play videos, and reflection prompts.
This paper was developed with support from AI tools. ChatGPT was used to refine grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and flow. Consensus was used to locate relevant sources for the literature review but did not contribute to the writing, analysis, or interpretation of the material.
