September Nature Talks
The popular Nature Talk Series at the Edson Fichter Nature Area, EFNA returns this September for its fifth year. These free public talks take place every Wednesday night in September at 6 pm at EFNA amphitheater offering fascinating insights into the natural world. In the late spring and early summer of 2021, Don and Jane Streubel were on their usual early morning walk with their dog at EFNA, when they nearly simultaneously said, “I can imagine people gathered here to listen to science experts explain the many wonders of nature.” One idea jumped to another imagining possibilities and opportunities. Soon a meeting at the Streubel house occurred with ISU and school district science instructors, master naturalist, and Idaho Fish and Game personnel to launch a series of nature talk topics with expert speakers. Over the past four years, the speakers have shared knowledge and expertise about the early people of the region, local birds, plants, mammals, snakes, the night sky and much more. The Nature Talk Committee will meet this summer to finalize an exciting lineup of topics and presenters for this milestone season. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early as seating is limited. Guests may bring a chair or blanket for added comfort. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the Indian Hills Elementary School.
