Sudden Illness, Accidents, and Emergencies
Sometimes, unexpected things happen and you need urgent or emergency care. Depending on the severity and available services at the time, you will require different services. This section will discuss different types of services available for you, when to use them, and how to reach them.
Emergency Call & Ambulances
Emergency services can be reached through 112 (General Emergency) or 999 (Ambulance Only). You should reach out to these services only if there is an imminent threat to life. Examples of situations which you should call ambulances include:
Psychiatric: Self-Injury, Aggravation of Mental Illness, Suicidal Ideation
Neurological: Altered/Loss of Consciousness, Seizures, Stroke (Altered Facial Expression, Arm Control, Speech)
Cardiac: Cardiac Arrest, Chest/Abdominal Pain
Respiratory: Shortness of Breathe, Choking, Allergic Reaction
Gastrointestinal: Vomiting with Blood, Poisoning with Drugs, Chemicals, Gases
Genitourinary: Massive Hemorrhage, Birth
Accidents & Injuries: Trauma, Massive Hemorrhage, Extensive Burns, Heat Stroke, Drowning, Fall from High Altitudes
If you are unsure if a symptom is an emergency and you believe that a life is at risk, do not hesitate to call.
Hospital Emergency Department (PL: Szpitalny Oddział Ratunkowy (SOR))
If there is a severe and sudden deterioration of health or imminent threat to life and you are able to travel to the hospital, then you should head to the Hospital Emergency Department, which is marked by the symbols "SOR".
The closest emergency department in Lublin to most students of the Medical University is the Medical University's University Clinical Hospital No. 4 (PL: Uniwersytecki Szipital Kliniczny nr 4 w Lublinie). The hospital can be found at Jaczewskiego 8.
Treatment is provided by triage, from Red to Blue depending on severity of illness.

Night and Holiday Care (PL: Nocna i świąteczna Opieka Zdrowotna (NOZ))
If you suddenly feel unwell, need immediate but non-emergent treatment, and can't locate an open clinic or hospital due to it being Sunday, the Holidays, or Night Time, you can visit a Night and Holiday Care clinic.
The closest Night and Holiday Care Clinic in Lublin to most students of the Medical University is the Independent Public Provincial Hospital at Lubartowska Street (PL: Samodzielny Publiczny Szpital Wojewódzki im. Jana Bożego w Lublinie). The clinic can be found at Lubartowską 81.

Doctor Appointments
For health-related concerns that are not urgent, you may make an appointment with a doctor at a clinic. There are many clinics available in Lublin. It is important that you make an appointment before visiting a clinic by calling the clinic, this is to ensure that an English speaking physician is available. The most common clinic visited by English Division students is from the LuxMed Group, which have multiple clinics around the city.
