The alarm's enclosure and mechanism are completely 3D printed, involving 20 hours and 0.6-0.8kg of PLA filament with a cost of around $20. Although using MDF board with a laser cutter could save about $3, the choice to continue 3D printing was driven by its consistent and visually appealing surface finish. Additionally, the accessibility of the 3D printer played a role in the decision-making process.
