The event is open to ELLIS PhDs and postdocs, as well as PhDs of ELLIS Fellows/Scholars/Members, but is limited to 200 participants. The organisers will prioritise active members of the ELLIS network, and students who are early in their PhDs. Students who are not part of the ELLIS network may also apply, but only during the second registration round, pending availability.

Lisbon is generally regarded as an affordable city compared to larger European cities. However, in recent years prices have increased, particularly food and accommodation. It is advisable that you book your accommodation as early as possible once you have received your acceptance. Travel within Lisbon is cheaper than other European cities. You can expect to spend between €20-40 for a nice dinner with drinks.
No, it is not mandatory to attend the social events but you must let us know in your registration form if you will attend for logistics purposes. Having said that, the social events are the main platforms for networking in a relaxed environment with your peers, so they are invaluable to get to know those in the ELLIS community.
EDS is an in-person event only.
Please email the organising committee with your query.
