EDRA =
For many years, Raphaël De Cock (Griff, Voxtra, Osuna, Halewyn, Zefiro torna/Balsam, ..) and Edwin Vanvinckenroye (Troissoeur, Tribe, ...) met mainly next to the stages with the intention of making music together. Last year, in 2017, they connected their voices and bows for a few intimate living room concerts. EDRA played their première in the beautiful attic of the Béguinage church at the Hide & Seek festival 2018 (Brussels, BE); immediately sold-out !
Edwin, a kind of mad scientist of the violin, with his mop of hair, impresses by the wealth of technique and emotion in his playing. A lover of folk themes from our regions, and an incredible improvizer, he mixes his voice and his assorted violins with inventive percussion played with his feet.
Raphaël is a specialist in traditional vocal techniques from around the world, mastering styles ranging from yodelling to throat singing, as well as a fine connoisseur of numerous instruments including the Jew’s harp, the gaïta, the chatkan… He draws with intelligence on his knowledge to serve up a fine and delicate music.
Together, they blend their string and wind instruments, their percussion and their voices to make you feel all the mellowness of their improvized "poetic folk" music.
