I am Full Professor of Economic Policy at the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Trento, where I teach Advanced Macroeconomics and Financial Economics in the M.Sc. Degree in Finance, and a Fellow of the Euro Area Business Cycle Network (EABCN).

I received a Bachelor Degree from the University of Bologna in 1992, a Master's Degree from the Reading University in 1995 and a Ph.D. degree from the Polytechnic University of Marche in 1997. 

My research interests are in the fields of macroeconomics, monetary policy and financial economics, with a focus on agent-based computational techniques, network analysis, applied econometric methods and behavioral decision-making. On these topics I have published extensively on leading academic journals as the Journal of Monetary Economics, the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Macroeconomic Dynamics and Information Sciences, and coauthored two books published by Springer. I have also acted as Independent Director in the boards of Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A. (2013-19), Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo (2010-13) and Fondaco Lux S.A. (2008-10), with responsabilities in risk management, internal control systems, anti-money laundering and portfolio management. From June 2019 to February 2024 I have served as Mayor of the Municipality of Rovigo.
