An oxygen concentrator is a medical device that provides extra oxygen as per doctor's prescription to patients with conditions that cause their oxygen level to drop too low for instance asthma lung cancer, COPD, flu, etc. the device serve as a more reliable way of oxygen concentration variation compared to the convectional pressurized oxygen tanks.
How it works
The oxygen concentrator pulls in ambient air and filters out the nitrogen from the supply. A thin tube runs from the device to the patient's nose, giving you purified oxygen through two open prongs below your nostrils. A medical mask can be used to get higher concentration and flow of oxygen
Research Areas
Pressure swing adsorption using a molecular sieve for nitrogen filtration
Membrane gas separation using a permeable barrier
Embedded monitoring system(oxygen and pressure levels from the oxygen concentrator)
