Tropical Skincare Innovator / Creating Space for Women to Lead, Build, and Rise
Dr. Edith F. Gibson, affectionately known as Edith Delight and widely recognized as Captain Delight for her extensive community empowerment work, is a visionary medical aesthetician, tropical derma expert, and entrepreneur. Renowned for pioneering advancements in skincare tailored to melanin-rich skin tones, she has made significant contributions to dermatology and community development.
Born on November 9, 1983, in Cameroon, Dr. Gibson earned a PhD in Industrial Psychology from Biltmore Christian University and advanced certifications in Medical Aesthetics from esteemed U.S. institutions, including Grace Medical Equipment in Charleston, SC, and The National Laser Institute—globally recognized as the top trainer in medical aesthetics.
Returning to Cameroon in 2010, she founded the Beauty Health Foundation (BHF), a premier research laboratory and professional training center dedicated to developing innovative skincare solutions suited to tropical climates. Her groundbreaking work at the Tropics Derma Research and Training Institute (TDRTI) employed nanotechnology and personalized skincare research, involving over 8,000 participants and 50,000 skin analyses over a decade. This research led to the development of customized treatments addressing common tropical skin issues such as hyperpigmentation, dehydration, loss of elasticity, and sebaceous overactivity.
