With over 60 families, 140 attendees, and even more community citizens, Edison Bengali Club is dedicated to spreading this culture to the Middlesex County region and future generations, while being 8,000 miles away from our homeland. Edison Bengali Club is funded solely from membership, donations, and fundraising events that volunteers organize and participate in. Events such as our Saraswati Puja (the worship of the Hindu goddess Saraswati) are essential in raising funding for the success of our organization and giving back to aid our home country in times of need. India is a developing country with over 200 million individuals struggling with poverty everyday. The lack of basic necessities of water, food, shelter, and clothing remain, unfortunately, familiar to over two-thirds of India’s population. Here at Edison Bengali Club, we strive to make a difference and impact the community around us in a positive way while highlighting the rich culture of Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
