Frequently Asked Questions
You don't seem to have set dates?
We are simply too small to book a venue for multiple dates and then hope a course fills up. Instead we take bookings and then work with the students to find the best dates to run the course. Sessions are always on a weekend as each class is up to four hours long and no one really wants to be doing that after work on a week night.
Can I use the footage you take for my showreel?
You're more than welcome. All edited class projects will be uploaded to a private YouTube link and if you bring a memory stick to class you can get a copy of the original.
Where do you get the scripts that you film?
My belief is that in remaking some famous existing scene then your performance will only ever be compared to that scene. At the start of the course scenes are written by an AI known as ChatGPT. I find that this "blank slate" of a scene allows students to flex their creativity in the interpretation of the scene and the characters within. Later on in the course we use original pieces of writing that will require specific performances from the actors to achieve the Director's vision.
I've never acted before. Is this the course for me?
To be fair it will be harder to come with no acting experience as this course is more about transitioning into screen acting. Having said that, if you are prepared to learn then you are welcome to join a course.
Will I have to pretend to be a goose who has just discovered that his wife has run off with an otter?
No. Probably not.
Is there a codename we can use for Acting Club as the 1st rule is "You don't talk about Acting Club?"
*ahem* You are free to talk about "Acting Klub" (wink, wink)
